Center for Regulation& Competition is a full-time research subdivision of JUFE. It was approved as one of the Humanities& Social Science key research base among Jiangxi’s universities in April, 2003. The current director is Chen Ming.

 

History

Center for Regulation& Competition founded in December, 1999, which began as Center for Industrial Organization& Government Regulation, and worked with Center for Economic and social development research. And then, it was approved as one of the Humanities& Social Science key research base among Jiangxi’s universities in April, 2003, and formed as Center for Industrial Organization& Government Regulation by itself. In June, 2006, it renamed as JUFE’s Center for Regulation& Competition.

 

Research Directions

There are 3 directions: Theory and policy of regulatory, Public administration and government administration, Competition policy.

 

Theory and policy of regulatory: It is to study the problems during the process of industry development, and policy of regulatory base on Regulation Economics. It includes: (1) Regulation theoretical study (2) Problems in monopoly industries, regulation means and policy analysis.

Public administration and government administration: It is to study the processes and laws of public administration and government administration and its methodology architecture base on Applied Economics and Management Science. It includes: (1) The processes and laws of Public administration (2) The management of government organization and community business.

Competition policy: It is to analyze market competition, enterprise monopoly and the competition policies and practice of government base on principles and analytical tools of Economics. It includes: (1) Economic effect of merger and antitrust policy (2) Corporate agreement and antitrust enforcement (3) Abuses of market dominant position (4) The system of China’s competition policy.

 

Research Team:

Now we have 9 full-time researches, among them we have 1 chief professor, 5 professors, 1 vice-professor and 2 lecturers. 8 part-time researchers, among them, we have 1 chief professor and 7 professors. The part-time researchers are generally hold a doctorate and we hire 8 well-known scholars which are generally have a huge impact in their field as distinguished professors.

On talent cultivation, Center started degree courses, required courses and optional courses on government regulation, regulation economics for doctoral students and postgraduates of public industry management.

 

Scientific Achievement

Since the Center was founded, we aimed to promote balanced development between fundamental researches and applied researches to reach national first-class level. We always cultivate high-quality first-class academic leaders and youth academic backbone as our duty. Focus on advancing academic communication and consultation and deepening reform of the scientific research system. In recent years, members of the center have undertaken 85 projects, among them, there are 8 projects funded by the national social science, 6 projects funded by national natural science, 12 ministry key projects, the budget of scientific research project is over 9 billion. We have published 218 academic papers on CSSCI journals. We awarded 28 excellent academic achievements (6 first-prize, 12 second-prize, 10 third-prize). We published 16 monographs. The center published 5 series of academic collections---Frontiers of Regulation and Competition, it has a wide impact among domestic peers.

 

Social reputation and Achievements:

Several international academic conferences have been held by our center, and have been very influential. We have obtained the title of Provincial Excellent Unit for two times in a row. We were selected as the second base of Humanities and Social Sciences of Jiangxi’s universities in 2012.

Open, flow, joint and competition are the principles of our center. We have set up flowing studios for expert researchers and carried out a variety of academic exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad. We are trying to make our center become a national key research base.
